GOLDEN SENIOR OLYMPICS
Dunaway Manor originated the Golden Senior Olympics in 1992. The one day event is held annually on the third Saturday in July at the Texas County Activity Center, in Guymon. Teams from four states, (Oklahoma, Texas, Colorado and Kansas) will total over one hundred contestants. Events range from volleyball to basketball to wheel chair and walker races and bowling. The contestants, ranging in age from their late 50s to early 100s, will compete for gold, silver and bronze medals. To qualify for the competition you must be a nursing home resident. It's lots of fun and excitement.

To register yourself or your residents, you may use the Contact Form.

FAMILY AND FRIENDS NIGHTS
Several times a year Dunaway hosts a 'pot luck' supper and invites all the families and friends of the residents. We provide the meat, bread and beverages, you bring the rest.

Pot Luck is always the best eating, everyone brings their very best recipes. This is free to the attendees and residents. You need to come and enjoy this special feast.

EASTER EGG HUNT
Each Easter we get the Kids and Grand Kids together for an Easter Egg hunt. The residents enjoy decorating the eggs almost as much as watching the happy participants find them. We have lots of green space for hiding the eggs. The children have a good time and take home all kinds of 'loot'.

PIONEER DAYS OUTINGS
Early in May the community of Guymon celebrates 'Pioneer Days'. It is a week long celebration of the local pioneer heritage, with a parade, rodeos, dances, picnics and our favorite the Old Timers Celebrations.

A King and a Queen are chosen from the elder population to head up the parade and participate in lots of events. Of course the Manor van is busy taking loads of residents all around town to enjoy the activities.

THANKSGIVING DINNER
We have a very special gathering to celebrate Thanksgiving. We prepare the turkey and dressing and the attendees bring their holiday favorites. Lots of delicious food and a good time for everyone.

CHRISTMAS PARTY & GIFT EXCHANGE
We have a special gathering to celebrate Christmas. There is a gift exchange, a resident door decorating contest by the local schools, and a good time for everyone.

TREE OF LOVE LIGHTING CELEBRATION
The "Tree of Love Lighting Celebration" has become the un-official Christmas Season opener. The Christmas lights that decorate the Tree of Love represent the individual donations made during the annual Tree of Love Campaign.

Throughout November and December Heritage Community conducts a fund raising campaign to raise money to assist those residents who have outlived their own resources.

The celebration of fellowship and community spirit includes entertainment, lots of good food, hot cider and wassail, and a fine celebration. The highlight of the celebration is the lighting of the tree by a 'special' donor or celebrity.
